You know you’re relationship is on unsteady ground when your boyfriend writes a song about it.
“I’m Looking Through You” by The Beatles was written by Paul McCartney about his then girlfriend, Jane Asher.
If you look at the lyrics and read a little bit between the lines, you realize that he wasn’t totally happy with what was going on between the two of them. The Beatles: The Biography In fact, the song was written after the two had an argument and was written at Asher’s family home in London.
“I wrote quite a lot of stuff up in that room actually. I’m Looking Through You I seem to remember after an argument with Jane. There were a few of those moments,” McCartney is quoted as saying in Many Years From Now by Barry Miles.
The song was originally found on their Rubber Soul album, but you don’t have to pull the record out to find it.
