He was born in Detroit on May 1, 1954.

Years later, Ray Parker Jr. became a prominent session guitarist in California working with Stevie Wonder, Boz Scaggs, Barry White and others.

He formed the band Raydio in 1977, then went solo in 1982.

By 1990 Ray Parker Jr. charted 10 hit songs on the Billboard charts.

Ray’s biggest  hit was a song he wrote for a movie starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Sigourney Weaver.

Starting the week of August 11, 1984 – Ghostbusters topped the charts for 3 weeks in a row.
