A person may take offense if you said they were from “Hicksville.”   However, if you said that about Billy Joel, it would be the truth.

He was born in Hicksville, Long Island, NY on May 9th, 1949. Billy scored his first hit when he was 24. Piano Man  peaked at #25 on the Billboard charts and became his signature song.

By 1997, Billy Joel charted 42 hit songs and 3 made it all the way to #1.

Billy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee.  He’s won Grammy’s Living Legend Award and Billboard’s Century Award.

Yes, Billy’s from New York, but Chicago has a special place in his heart.  It must, because he’ll perform at Wrigley Field for the sixth time this August.

Billy has done so many great songs, it’s hard to pick a favorite.  This is one of mine.  It was released in early 1985 and would peak at #18.  From the album An Innocent Man, here’s Keeping The Faith…
