“Seasons In The Sun” was a #1 hit in the US by a Canadian singer doing a cover of a French language song.
Terry Jacks did the song for his album of the same name in 1973 and sold over 10 million copies of the single version of it.
That made Jacks a ton of cash, which he used to buy a boat that he sailed around parts of Canada and Alaska in.
“Seasons In The Sun” was a HUGE hit and that’s good news for Jacks, because he never had another major hit after this one.
But, then again, after you have a song this big, do you really need one?
In the early 90’s Nirvana recorded a cover of the song but it wasn’t released until 2004.
The most successful remake (which I guess would be a remake of a remake or a cover of a cover) was by boy band Westlife in 1999.
They had a #1 hit in the UK with it during the Christmas season that year.
I’ll apologize ahead of time, because the song’s lyrics will probably be stuck in your head all day!
“We had joy, we had fun….We had seasons in the sun”
