It was January 1963 when the Rolling Stones formed in London.  Their first hit single Not Fade Away debuted on the Billboard charts in May 1964.

By 1998 the Stones had charted 57 Top-100 hits and 8 of them made it all the way to  number 1.

Grammy Lifetime Achievement award winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, they’re revered as the world’s all-time greatest rock and roll band.

Late in the spring of 1969, the Rolling Stones recorded a song that later became their biggest hit single.

The song does not open with Keith Richards’ guitar.  Instead, producer Jimmy Miller plays a beat with a cowbell.

Honky Tonk Women became the #1 song in the USA the week of August 23rd, 1969.  It remained at the top of the charts for a total of 4 weeks.
