In 1961, they formed in Hawthorne, California.  Brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson along with cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine.

In high school they were known as Kenny & The Cadets, Carl & The Passions and later The Pendletones. A young record promoter renamed them The Beach Boys.

They’re the group responsible for starting the surf-rock craze.  They’re also the most popular American rock and roll band.

Surfin’ Safari was their first Top-40 hit in 1962.  Still Cruisin’ from the movie Lethal Weapon 2  became their 59th hit single in 1989.

The Beach Boys have recorded so many great songs and picking a favorite is tough.

Here’s one that peaked at #20 in the summer of 1968 – Do It Again.
