You’d expect a song that talks about Autumn to be sort of a bummer, but this one is definitely is not!

“Autumn Almanac” by The Kinks is actually about the things people like about football, instead of all the things we hate like a lot of autumn themed songs are!

Consider some of the song’s lyrics:

“Friday evenings, people get together
Hiding from the weather, tea and toasted…”

Or this one:

“I like my football on a Saturday
Roast beef on Sundays, all right…”

Makes this time of year sound pretty cool doesn’t it?

Another interesting fact is that this song wasn’t actually released on an album originally.

It was released between The Kink’s 1967’s album “Something Else” and 1968’s “Are the Village Green Preservation Society.”

Happy Fall everybody!
