You don’t see wild alligator snapping turtles very often around these parts.
In fact, it’s been three decades since one was spotted in Illinois….until the other day!
Researchers found one way way way downstate!

That thing looks like a dinosaur, doesn’t it!
USA Today says that this may be a good sign for this endangered species or this may be the last of a dying breed around here and could soon be totally gone!
Let’s hope for that first option!
